If you’ve ever had a rock in your shoe, you know how quickly a pain in your foot can throw off your stride. Foot pain is not something we can easily brush aside or ignore.

Over the years, our feet take a beating. We’re on them every day. They take us wherever we go.

“Most Americans log an amazing 75,000 miles on their feet by the time they reach age 50,” says the American Podiatric Medical Association

That’s a lot of miles! It’s not surprising, then, that with the feet a wide range of health problems can occur.

Painful conditions caused by skin irritation, toenail infection, nerve issues, muscle and tendon problems, injuries, and other larger health problems such as arthritis, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease can also plague the foot.

Thankfully, a few key tips can help you maintain foot health over the years. That’s why Canyon Oaks Foot and Ankle clinic is here with what to do for common foot problems and simple things you can do today to promote good podiatric health.

Common Foot Problems

Foot problems range widely in symptoms and severity. Here are some of the most common health problems related to feet.

Fungal Nails – It sounds revolting, but don’t feel foot shame. Countless people suffer from foot fungus. Thankfully, the problem is more cosmetic than it is dangerous. A podiatrist can help you get your feet back to normal. Learn More

Calluses and Corns – Feet bare a heavy load. Excessive rubbing and friction on load-bearing areas often create calluses and corns. A foot specialist can help you minimize these lesions. Learn More

Hammertoe – This is when one or more toe contracts and is impossible to bend to a normal position. This condition can be painful, but a foot doctor can help you get this condition straightened out. Learn More

Flat Feet – This condition can develop at a fetal stage, or later in life due to injury or other factors. Regardless of the cause, it can painful. However, this pain can be managed with the help of a physician. Learn More
